The Knight

The warrior walks alone

Unmoved by the world

Content to joust

With those who approach

Turning away his soul, afraid

And bearing his sword.

Within the brittle shell of armor

Lives a spirit

A lover

A magician

A lonely child

Who as a man has lost his way

And so his connection to others.

Now sweet water seeps

Through frozen plates

Bursting the seams

To reveal spring’s embrace

The knight gives way to day.
